Just watched my first PhD defence over Zoom. Wasn’t quite as exciting as usual but the applicant did very well. I suppose a good thing about all this is this kind of thing is more accessible than ever. Fricken love scientific research.

Thrilled to be starting a position as a Governor at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It’s in the top 10% performing Trusts in the UK and also one of the largest. 19 Hospitals and 13,000+ staff will bring its own challenges but I’m grateful for all learning opportunities.

This is a legitimately very big deal. The only test for Alzheimer's disease we've had is PET-scan or spinal tap. The assay for p-tau217 registers the presence of the plaques and tangles of AD equally accurately, and better than MRI or other tests.

This is absolutely superb.
