Never seen this: ? Whipple’s disease in the kidney. Patchy accumulation of aggregates of PAS-positive rods in Bowman’s space, few capillary loops, interstitium & tubules. Initially thought of crystal storing histiocytosis but IF negative for Ig. EM showed bacteria in tubules.

Syphilis is an endemic disease. Membranous nephropathy (MN) is the most common cause of proteinuria in syphilis. We now show that NDNF is the target antigen in syphilis-MN. A key EM finding shown below are superficial subepithelial deposits, reminiscent of subepithelial humps.
