Enormous attendance at Dan Kay 💙's funeral today, held in the sunshine at Broad Green. A fitting send-off for a lovely man. The anti-Semitic gatecrashers on Zoom have been reported to CST and will hopefully be caught in due course.

Wishing all our followers Chag Sameach, as we celebrate #Shavuot - when the Jewish people received the Torah from God on Mount Sinai. Enjoy the sunshine and cheesecake!

Fantastic concert this afternoon, in memory of Rev Henry and Mrs Helena Chait of Greenbank Drive Hebrew Congregation. Wonderful to welcome their sons Benji, Alby and Charlie, plus the London Cantorial Singers and their soloists, and Rabbi Natan Fagleman. Come back soon!!

Remembering our late Hon Sec and social media manager, Dan Kay 💙, who left us so suddenly in May. If you ever wanted a definition of the Yiddish word "mensch", Dan was it. Sam explains why here...

Very excited about this project from our former member Phil Tragen Photo, to tie in with the 150th anniversary of our beautiful building this year. Watch this space! #princesroad150

Glad so many of Dan Kay 💙's committee colleagues and fellow congregants could attend today to pay tribute to our Hon Sec, who left us so needlessly a year ago. He is much missed by us all.

Today marks the start of our "Heritage Season", marking the 150th anniversary of our beautiful building, which was consecrated on 3 September 1874. There's all sorts going on, so we'll try & keep you updated over the next few months.

Yesterday, it was a pleasure to welcome back some former members of the choir, along with our chazzan (cantor) who has thankfully recovered from Covid. The result was a magnificent Shabbat service with some beautiful pieces of music including one with 4 soloists!!

After that was the unveiling of a plaque in the Metquarter shopping centre, marking (almost) the exact location of the first synagogue in Liverpool, c.1745.

And the day concluded with a private reception with Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis Mirvis for congregation and community leaders at the synagogue. His compassion warmth and enthusiasm are an inspiration to all provincial congregations as we struggle on in the 21st century.

Proud to attend various events for PrincesRoadShul's 150th anniversary today. After 17 years, I'm glad to be out of elected office there, but the place will always be central to my Jewish identity.
