I’m asked so often by my low carb patients’I know breakfast is important but I’m just not hungry for it any more, can I skip it?’ YES YES !!

After 2.6M views, the American Diabetes Association defends itself, claiming carbs are essential. Incorrect. A v. small amount is needed for brain/eye function, but this glucose can be made from protein via gluconeogenesis. The human requirement for carb consumption is zero. ADA, your own

Prevention of cardiovascular disease in T1 diabetes Article considers ≥15 drug classes for lipids, BP, obesity, ins res, thrombosis. Clearly these play a major role in progress. But ... number of times any specific diet mentioned? 👉Exactly ZERO NEJM nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

We see 50% of my patients with T2D who chose low carb achieve drug free remission in the UK NHS So it would seem to be a reasonable goal at least .I find it gives hope and that is powerful in its own right -Just eat food that doesn’t put your blood sugar up high

Interesting and powerful statement posed by Sarah Zhang on The Atlantic "Ozempic Patients Need an Off-Ramp" I agree and Virta Health has been working on this for 9 years with the following off-ramp (sustained weight loss) results post Ozempic: link.springer.com/article/10.100…

If a woman in a homeless shelter can turn around her health by restricting carbohydrates, it's possible for anyone. South Bronx patients are also reversing diabetes and other endocrinological disorders through diet. Via mariela 👏 Endocrine Society American Diabetes Association LInk

The ADA wants to "eliminate the stigma of type 2 diabetes" and be your partner for life. I don't want to be your partner for life, I just want to eliminate your type 2 diabetes. #ADS

A long article in the NYTimes on obesity questions its definition. BMI may not be the best definition, true. But here we are in 2024 and no mention of insulin resistance? nytimes.com/2024/09/19/opi…

It's a great asset for the patients, but there is some deep failure in our societies behind this. We need the Rule of 50 (LDL, Lp(a), TG <50 mg/dL) to prevent the need for many of these procedures that are driven by lipid disorders....😀
