As I approach the end of my 7th decade, I cannot recall a time of greater moral chaos than the present hour. Where today to look for hope that is substantive. For a compass that is true north. Hebrews 12 encourages, "Fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith"

Follow the One worthy of your passion. "The character of our Lord was wonderfully balanced with neither excess nor deficiency... in Him no strong points were obvious because there were no weak ones. He was without flaw or contradiction." J.Oswald Sanders, THE INCOMPARABLE CHRIST

Stunning. American values. Down: patriotism, religion/faith, having children. Only of 23% of those under 30 value having children as "very important." The only "very important" priority that has grown in past 25 years - "having money." We have lost our way. cWSJ 3.28.23 A4

Our desperate need: a moral revolution. Why not look to the moral greatness of Jesus of Nazareth. J. Oswald Sanders The Incomparable Christ. "The evangelists present a man, a real man, who displays perfection at every stage of development and in every circumstance of life."

(Sanders, Chapt 1 The Moral Perfection of Christ) "In speech as in silence is perfect balance of character was displayed; he never spoke when it would have been wiser to remain silent; He never kept silence when he should have spoken." Cf. James 3

Calls for a moral revolution crescendo in our country. Both genders find their best expression in Christ. "The excellencies of both sexes coalesced in Him. While possessing all the gentler graces of womanhood, He could never be regarded as effeminate..."

"Indeed, he was linked in popular thought with the rugged Elijah, and the austere John the Baptist (Matt 16:14)." J.Oswald Sanders THE INCOMPARABLE CHRIST. "In Jesus, you find everything...always consistent with Himself."

Our need for a moral revolution. Our needed step: Fix your eyes on Jesus (Heb. 12:1-2). "Most men are notable for one conspicuous grace--Moses for meekness, Job for patience, John for love. But in Jesus, you find everything." J.Oswald Sanders THE INCOMPARABLE CHRIST

A moral revolution desperately needed. Perhaps it needs to begin with genuine sustained thanksgiving (cf. Rom 1.21) to Him who provides all things. "The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies Me..." Ps.50:23.

We who follow Him offer a moral revolution thru Him. He alone we'll navigated thru Satan's relentless assaults. "Temptation assailed Him in its full force along every avenue...He never opened the door to the Tempter...we may share His triumph" Sanders THE INCOMPARABLE CHRIST.

Our desperate need of moral revolution must begin with Jesus. Fully God, yet fully man. Showing living humanly in righteousness. "Like us Jesus was not self-sustained. He needed prayer and communion with His Father for support in everyday life." Sanders, THE INCOMPARABLE CHRIST

A moral revolution needed. Jesus the Lord can bring it about, especially for men. JO Sanders: "the Lamb of God was nonetheless the Lion of Judah...calm power and self-possession marked all His words and actions."

A moral revolution needed. See Fay Vincent "Why we swear to tell the truth" WSJ 5-11-2023 A17 "The traditional oath's essence is that the witness will attest openly to the duty of being truthful. Invoking God reflects the view that lying has consequences beyond legal bounds."

Our critical need - a moral revolution in America. Are we willing to talk about this? Will Jesus' disciples nationwide raise the call? Write op/eds, discuss @ church, converse w/ friends and neighbors, pray for a movement of the Spirit. Start with a look within. Lk 18.9-14

What could happen if we admitted that our desperate need is for the risen Jesus to live His life in and through us? His life and character within, expressed without, would begin the revolution. The God-man, living inside, exhibited outside. Galatians 2:20.

Let's encourage a reversing revolution in morals. Asking the Lord Jesus to express His exemplary life through us. JO Sanders - "Jesus' sinlessness was not merely a neutral quality of innocence"...it included a striving against sin. Are you His disciple? Promote what is right!

Jesus our indwelling, empowering model - JO Sanders: INCOMPERABLE CHRIST - "Throughout his earthly life, the perfection of his character did not consist in merely negative faultlessness. He was characterized by positive and active holiness."

If you love the Lord, lead the way. "O you who love the Lord, hate evil! Light is sown for the righteous and joy for the upright in heart" (Ps.97:10-11). What better gift from the Lord who loves us but light and joy, sown in our pathway, sprouting along our way.

MR (moral revolution): In Book IV Psalms extol the righteousness of God. And a compass-call to seriously ponder living in right ways. Ps 101:2-4"I will ponder the blameless way; I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. A perverse heart shall be far from me."
