ICLR reviewer: Thanks, you've addressed all my concerns and the paper's great! Same ICLR reviewer: I'm still going to keep my score at Borderline Accept.

New Normal for AI Conferences 🤔 ā€œThis year we had a record number of submissions… . As you read the reviews, please bear in mind that the competitive selection process required difficult decisions, including rejecting papers whose overall scores and comments are positive.ā€

Another day another 🤔 ā€œOverall, the paper is surely valuable .. addressing an important problem. The AC looked at the reviews and the rebuttal and discussions, and despite the majority of positive reviews does not consider this paper suitable for publication at .. conferences.ā€

Always a pleasure to have an ICLR paper with an average score of 6.7 (and unanimous accept) rejected. A fatal flaw? Something new revealed during discussion? Any reason to see this coming? No, not at all. The AC thought the visual quality of our samples could be a bit better.

During my undergrad, my collaborators and I faced similar challenges in securing funding. We were really fortunate to receive support from some organizers offering funding. For many papers, one of us would register, and we’d split the costs and present our work virtually 🄲.

Ahmad Beirami ICML Conference In hindsight, this checkbox thing is turning out to be a bad idea. Reviewers are just clicking on the checkbox without any feedback on how the concerns remain unaddressed by the rebuttal. ICML Conference can still salvage the situation; ask ACs to mandatorily chase such reviewers.

I'll be at #ICLR2025 next week and will be presenting our paper at the CCAI Workshop (Details Soon). Lately, I have been working on AI Explainability, Alignment and Safety. I am also interested in AI for Social Good applications. If you happen to be around, would love to meet.

Can’t believe this happened on a flight. On my recent trip from Singapore to Kolkata, my entire laptop bag got soaked(my bottle was empty). Tried reaching out to IndiGo staff for help but got no response — just got brushed off with we aren’t responsible.

Was about to post a recap of my time at ICLR… but in the meantime — 1/2 papers accepted at ICML Conference šŸ˜‡! A few more workshop & venue acceptances rolled in recently too — more updates in the coming days! Super grateful to my collaborators & mentors for all the support!
