Right. These protests are essentially a form of rioting -- they strike directly at the fabric of civil society. And that's why civil societies have long understood that while peaceful protests are fine, rioting is one thing that absolutely cannot be tolerated.

> ... Canada discovered the remains of 215 children at the site of a defunct boarding school... False. It has now been three years since the Kamloops story broke, and the number of "remains" identified is still exactly ... zero. Drew Holden nytimes.com/2024/07/30/us/…

Michael Tracey says a lot I strongly disagree with. But this is an interesting observation. If you go to Kamala Harris' website, she literally does not state her position on a *single* issue or policy. Nothing. Just a bio and "send me money."

Note how she just assumes without question that activism is completely good and appropriate for a journalism-school position These people then act baffled as to why journalism has become one of the least-trusted institutions in America.

I'd greatly appreciate if y'all could read my The New York Sun article, because more than any one I've written before, it pulls together so many of the ethical and scientific threads over the debate over pediatric gender-transition treatment. It's a paywall-free link!

This is a good, concise summary. The fundamental assertion at the very heart of the trans movement is that one can be a man somehow born into the "wrong" body (or vice versa). But there is no science that backs this assertion. And the entire edifice rests on it.

Hey Jesus Jiménez , one note re your NYT article about the squirrel: >> the squirrel was euthanized to test for rabies Rodents almost never get rabies. To my knowledge, there is literally not a single case in recorded history of a human getting rabies from a squirrel.

This VERY LONG thread -- which starts off with a discussion of the hazards of offering help to street schizophrenics/drug addicts, and segues into (I am not joking) demonology -- is one of the most bonkers and interesting things I've read in a long time.

I am of course not a legal scholar. But it seems plain that the people who ratified the Constitution and amendments didn't think that the babies of parents in the country *illegally* should be U.S. citizens. Why WOULD they be? dailysignal.com/2024/12/11/tru…

Isn't this literally a Simpsons bit? They print a trillion-dollar bill, and entrust it to Mr. Burns: America's wealthiest and therefore most trustworthy citizen.
