“Super literal but stiff and awkward” I would argue that the main Evangelical regions couldn’t handle the NASB (at the time it was gaining steam as the academic go-to version) is bc literacy rates are lowest in the South. The NASB, which happens to be my translation of choice, is

Haven’t commented on this yet but the reporting does not line up with the husband’s post, which at this point seems like a total misrepresentation of an unjustified shooting that wasn’t over someone’s sexual orientation at all.
