NEWS -- The House GOP leadership says they will probably try to vote on the rule sometime in the next hour. Passage of this bill will theoretically be sometime in the 5 a.m. neighborhood

Johnson tells me “we’re about to get those votes right now” on the rule, as he returns to the floor. Scalise followed closely behind and said he hopes they close the vote in the next hour. Johnson went on to predict they can pass the bill “by early morning”

Floor update says final passage between 5-6am. Obviously, this could still slide, in part due to the ‘magic minute’ Leaders in each party (so Johnson and Jeffries) have the power to hold the floor during debate for as long as they please — hence why their minute is ‘magic’ —-

Good morning - the House is on the cusp of passing Trump's mega bill after all but one Republican voted to advance the bill last night on a procedural vote. Jeffries is in his magic minute, which has now lasted for about 90+ minutes.

Current record for the longest House floor speech is 8 hours and 32 minutes set by then-House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) during floor debate opposing President Biden's "Build Back Better" bill on November 19, 2021.

If Hakeem Jeffries speaks until 1:26 p.m., he will break the record for the longest floor speech. That record is held by Kevin McCarthy. McCarthy spoke for eight hours and 32 minutes.
