At the start of the New Year the crescent Moon will approach & pass Venus, making a beautiful pairing in the sky that will look lovely to the naked eye & stunning in binoculars & small telescopes. They will be at their closest & most striking in the evening twilight on Jan 3rd.

Clear last night here in Kendal after the storm blew through, so I went out to photograph the planets currently "on parade". All images here are crops from processed stacks of photos taken with a Canon 700D tracking the sky on an iOptron Sky Tracker. Planets are labelled.
