Athletic trainers stepped up to serve NYS & their communities as critical frontline workers throughout the pandemic but are not eligible for NYS benefits such as the HWB. NOW is the time to value the work of ATs.Governor Kathy Hochul we don't understand why are being ignored like this!

Athletic Trainers were leaders from the start as key members of the NYS Education Department Regional School Reopening Task Force and the NYSPHSAA , where they helped develop AND implement protocols for safe return to school and sport.

It is estimated that fewer than 600 ATs would be eligible for the HWB. Governor Kathy Hochul - this is a drop in the bucket for the overall budgetary expense, but would mean so much to these ATs who stayed and served their communities without complaint.

There WAS an AT for that then, when NYS needed frontline workers, ATs stepped up without complaint. With a shortage of ATs across the state, the HWB is to help recruit & retain our best healthcare professionals. Instead, ATs are leaving. Help keep ATs in NYS! NYSATA
