5th October Trevor Mark Thomas and I will be having a conversation as part of WithingtonBookFestival. 11am at Withington Public Hall. Hope to see you there.
Do take time to read this fluent, illusive story by Robert Stone. Graphic but ireal, there's a symphonic quality to Robert's writing, spacious and timeless, with the characters never quite seeming to inhabit their circumstances. Remarkable.
The time draws nearer - the cover photo by Nicholas Royle is getting terrific feedback.
Ten lines of utter beauty from Eileen Carney Hulme Such a joy to start the day with one of Eileen's poems.
Delighted to share this endorsement for #lovelaydown from Dr Kevin MacNeil ☸ けヴいん. He wrote one of my favourite books about the writing world, The Brilliant and Forever - short story competition set on a Scottish island where one of the main characters is an alpaca. Funny, bizarre & dark

'[He] imagines the bridge of separation between the piano and himself mending like knitted flesh over an open wound'. Thanks to Bulb Culture Collective (SUBS CLOSED) for another chance to read this exquisitely rendered story by Matt Kendrick. A vast theme distilled to its essence.
Tomorrow I’m doing a walk with some of our guests (those suffering from homelessness) to the Clifton suspension bridge - they wanted to try and raise some money as they wanted to give something back to us - if you can please donate and lend your support 👉🏼 stewardship.org.uk/pages/Turnarou…

'‘Tin Man wished for a heart,’ Fortune Teller says. ‘Scarecrow a brain. You?’' Fascinated by the use of language in this finely nuanced story of hope and possibility by Sherry Morris 💙🇺🇦💛
'I saw the swerving pinch of autumn' The literature of sport is so rich and so often neglected. Thanks to Matt Gilbert for posting this beautiful, vivid poem by Matthew M C Smith Made my morning.
'Let us be the thorns that prevent a flower from getting picked.' Such finely chosen imagery in this uplifting poem by Sreelekha Chatterjee. I was very glad to read it in these troubled times.
A few of us are doing events at WithingtonBookFestival on Saturday. Come on down.
