Around 9am, units responded to Pt Reyes South Beach on reports of a person swept into the water. Water resources were immediately deployed. The victim was located and airlifted to South Beach just after 10am where he was pronounced deceased. Point Reyes NPS is the lead agency.

Due to multiple downed trees and power lines, expect delays in the opening of the Bear Valley Visitor Center, Limantour Rd & Mt Vision Rd for Monday 2/5. In addition these closures will be in place 2/5: Drakes Beach Rd and lot/beach, the Pt Reyes Lighthouse and Visitor Center.

Park crews continue to assess road conditions and clear trees after our huge storm. Power outages continue. The Bear Valley Visitor Center is open and staffed with friendly rangers. Drakes Beach area and Lighthouse Visitor Center and stairs are closed today.

PRNS storm CLOSURES 2/17-18: Lighthouse & Lighthouse Visitor Cntr, Drakes Beach Rd & area. Limantour Rd & MtVision Rd closing ~ 7 pm Sat pm through Sunday. Assessment will be made on Monday AM to decide if these areas will reopen on 2/19.

Storm closures in PRNS for Mon 2/19/24 are as follows: • Limantour Rd and Mt Vision Rd both closed through at least 2/19. Backpackers should start at trailheads other than ones along Limantour Rd. • Drakes Beach open 10-4 unless conditions go south • Lighthouse stairs closed

The Point Reyes Lighthouse drinking water system is currently out of order. Please being plenty of water for everyone in your party if you plan on visiting 2/25 & 2/26.

The car charging stations at the Bear Valley Visitor Center are offline until further notice as they undergo replacement.

All access to Pt Reyes Nat’l Seashore on Sir Francis Drake beyond the turn for Pierce Pt Rd is FULLY CLOSED in both directions due to a major motor vehicle accident. No ETA for reopening at this time.

Both lanes/directions of Sir Francis Drake Blvd traffic have just reopened.

A RED FLAG WARNING is in effect from 11 am Tuesday 11/5 through 7 am Thursday 11/7 due to strong offshore wind with near critical relative humidity & dry fuels. All fires are banned within the Seashore and Mt. Vision Rd is CLOSED. Be fire safe, Marin!
