I may be the only person in the world disappointed that Ari Matti Mustonen and Young Jamie aka Fingers got off the topic of SM7b, preamps, Cloudlifter, and compression at the beginning of #JRE2186. I need to know what the disagreement was about.

I set out to make a short educational video on how to select a microphone, and it quickly turned into a 55 minutes over 7 videos covering different aspects of mic selection. That got out of hand fast. 2 videos per week for the next 3 - 4 weeks.

I'm hearing a LOT of plosives from creators who close-mic. Be sure to use a low cut filter and do a final check on bigger speakers to make sure you're providing your audience with a good sound experience. 🙏 Angling the mic off at 45 degrees to one side may also help.

Yes it can be fun, but can also help you feel less alone and more connected. People enjoy hobbies not only because the activity is enjoyable, but because it allows you to find your people; the ones who are weird like you and share the same interest as you.

I have been living in the dark ages over here. Reamping is one of the greatest guitar recording inventions ever.

Bruh. I was just told my mic comparison levels were “all over the place” & the comparison was useless. I just verified the loudness of each sample and they were within a deviation of 0.5dB (one was 1dB). Guess I’ll be more precise verifying levels in the future. Geez Louise!

My favorite part of making videos is writing the music for them. This is the bit I wrote for the Shure SM4 review.
