On Jan 30, JRCC Trenton requested support from USCG Great Lakes to assist in the rescue of anglers stranded on an ice floe on Lac St Clair. Air Station Detroit evacuated 3 people to safety.  Remember to monitor ice thickness before and during your winter activities!

Marine flares and surface flares should only be used in an emergency. They are used to signal distress to any potential viewer close enough to see them. Always follow manufacturer directions and never look directly at the light emitted. #boatingsafety

We are almost ready to start our 2021 boating season on Eastern Lake Erie. Crews have been continuing virtual training over the winter time and maintenance crews have been preping our P1 & P2 vessels. Our launch is coming quick. Want to join our team? email [email protected]

Training exercises help our search and rescue (SAR) crews maintain a high level of readiness. Recently, the crew of CCGS Cape Hearne participated in a joint exercise with partners from @RCAF’s 424 Transport and Rescue Squadron, and crew aboard Marine nationale 🇫🇷 Vessel Fulmar.

Today JRCC received a request for assistance with a sinking boat in Presqu'ile Bay, ON. A Griffon crew from Royal Canadian Air Force 424 Sqn in Trenton responded and hoisted the person out of the water. Luckily he was wearing a #PFD, don’t forget your #lifejacket!
