One of the older seals at the National Library of Ireland is the seal of Thomas, abbot of Glendalough which dates from the early 1200s

Beautiful illuminated initial (depicting the letter 'E') in a royal charter of Edward III to Mellifont Abbey in 1348. First time seeing this type of illumination among the medieval deeds and charters at the National Library of Ireland

A powerful image of St Patrick's Purgatory at Lough Derg in modern county Donegal as imagined in a German woodcut created at Augsburg in the 1480s which can be found in the National Library of Ireland - the pilgrimage site at Lough Derg enjoyed a European wide reputation in the medieval era

Really interesting seeing this signature of Queen Elizabeth I in a letter written in October 1588, a few months after events of the Spanish Armada, to her officials in Ireland regarding the grant of an annuity at National Library of Ireland

A good impression of the seal of James Butler, fourth earl of Ormond (otherwise known as the 'White Earl'), attached to a deed from 1434 at National Library of Ireland #SealSaturday

Happy to share an article I have written for the Archive Fever series hosted by the Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland on medieval seals in the National Library of Ireland and their value for the study of medieval Irish history. virtualtreasury.ie/archive-fever/…

Always exciting receiving proofs. Looking forward to seeing my edition published in Studies in Medieval and Renaissance Sources TCD Histories Centre for War and Diplomacy

A good impression of the seal of Robert Herbrigg attached to a deed from 1412 at National Library of Ireland. In what may be an example of Canting Arms (or a coat of arms which puns on its bearer's name), the seal has a hare on it in good detail (not least it ears).

My author’s copies of ‘Irish Kingship in the Eleventh and Twelfth Centuries’ have arrived! It’s lovely to get my hands on the final product. I have to record my sincere thanks to Routledge Books for helping me bring my book to this point - a pleasure to work with from day one.

The great seal of Edward IV attached to a royal charter from 1467 granting English legal status to an Irish woman, Sadhbh Kavanagh, at National Library of Ireland

Honoured to be invited to the launch The National Archives of the OldRailwayAccidents. The genius behind the project Dr Mike Esbester reveals a staggering 70000 cases catalogued by our amazing volunteers

A neat Elizabethean legal record (a final concord) made in the 'court of the lady Queen' or Queen's Bench at Westminster before the justices James Dyer, Roger Manwood, and Robert Mounson relating to properties in Shropshire and the city of London from 1577 at the National Library of Ireland

The seal of the office of the mayor of Waterford with a counterseal (on the back of the seal) attached to a deed from 1433 at National Library of Ireland

Very impressive impression of the seal of the Liberty of Tipperary, attached to a court record from 1581, during the time of Thomas Butler, 10th earl of Ormond and lord of the Liberty of Tipperary, at National Library of Ireland

A well oreserved Irish Great Seal of Elizabeth I attached to a deed from 1597 at the National Library of Ireland
