Finishing up our 24-hour sampling campaign looking at zooplankton horizontal and vertical migration! We caught the sunrise this morning and did some night sampling last night at both pelagic and littoral sites. Just a few more tows left to take at noon before we’re done!

We made it to #PLANAQUA AQUACOSM and are gearing up to two weeks of examining the effects of hypoxia and fish communities on #zoop migration @GoldfarbSadye Heather Wander Rosie Chapina but are currently a person down @dvm_uvm !

Had a great time sampling at #PLANAQUA AQUACOSM with Jonathan Doubek Heather Wander @dvm_uvm @GoldfarbSadye We sampled 16 lakes and collected over 200 zooplankton samples over 6 consecutive days/nights!

Terrific #ESA2020 study examining both diel horizontal migration and diel vertical migration in zooplankton. The glamorous #rotifer Keratella plays a starring role in DHM eco.confex.com/eco/2020/meeti… Thanks Cayelan Carey crew for delivering this rotifer #limnology happiness!

Calling all zooplankton researchers! Heather Wander and I have set up a zooplankton identification Slack workspace for people to send photos of zooplankton they’re processing and for others to help with ID. Email Heather or me if you want to join! (details below) 🔬

🚨It is out!🚨 Using RealSAT #KGML and #interdisciplinary #TeamScience to classify patterns in the surface area of 103K lakes in the US. Over 3 yrs of a unique collaboration, co-lead with great colleagues from LE2020, a GLEON teamscience training. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

GLEON Ecologists, hydrologists and computer scientists together in the Lake Expedition 2020 cohort found that waterbodies were classified as having “no change” (43%), and 57% of them fell into other groups with linear and nonlinear patterns. #Teamscience #Coleadership GLEON

Are you interested in iterative, near-term ecoforecasting but deterred because you don't have high-frequency sensors? Check out Heather Wander's new paper on identifying the ideal frequency of data assimilation for lake forecasting: esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ec… (1/2)
