I'm Akosua, a #PhD Candidate on a #RacialJustice Placement at the Museum. I'm researching anti-fertility botanicals used by enslaved African women, focusing on Okra from Sloane's collection. Okra was used to manage fertility, helping to dismantle slavery and inform modern uses.

Selina Brace presenting our ongoing work on historical genomes of babirusa and anoa in the #SMBE2024 symposium "Animal Paleogenomics: Beyond Higher Latitudes" to show you that working in aDNA in the tropics is not bad project committee 🙌🏼 I am a proud student 😆

If we want to study phylogenetic relationships of Coleoptera biodiversity, museum collections increasingly can provide an historic perspective on biogeography, temporality and taxonomies. Our latest research here 🪲 #museomics frontiersin.org/journals/ecolo…
