Today, was the hottest day of the weekend, with a track temperature at the start of 40 °C which then dropped to 32 °C and so thermal degradation was significant. ☀️

The fastest lap of the race was set by Max Verstappen with the C1. While the Hard and Medium were the most popular compounds used, the Soft also had a role to play, either at the start or in the closing stages. #Pirelli #Fit4F1

For the start, there was a pretty even split between the 20 drivers in terms of those who opted for the Medium (all in the top ten except Alonso, plus Ricciardo, Tsunoda and Zhou) and those who went with the Soft. #Pirelli #Fit4F1

The quickest strategy is based on using the Soft and the Hard, but some teams, such as Ferrari, Red Bull and Aston Martin as well as Magnussen, who only have one set of the C1 available, will have to try something else. #Pirelli #Fit4F1

Finding the right strategy at Suzuka will not be easy as there are many factors at play, depending on grid position and available sets. On paper, a two-stop with C3 and C1 is the quickest choice. #Pirelli #Fit4F1

Today’s pole position lap was almost 7 tenths quicker than the fastest time from six months ago. This increase in performance, using the same compounds as in 2023, was down to lower temperatures as well as the improvement from this year’s cars over last year’s. #Pirelli #Fit4F1
