Arthur Pink from Nottingham went to Colorado to pastor a Congregational church at Silverton (pic). His pastoral ministry was problematic, he suffered from mental issues, and he isolated himself on the Isle of Lewis where he published Bible notes - that became hugely influential!

This may seem a typical memorial at @lincscathedral. In fact Rev Hett was a rather aggressive abuser of the #Methodists and a wealthy pluralist. But don't worry, I won't start #Hettmustfall......

We love Fledborough viaduct. Built as part of a grand plan for a national East-West railway, that only ever went about thirty miles!

Always good to find a new local connection between #Alford Lincs and the Americas...not many people know this one. Local curate moved to the cold NW for forty years!

In Boston this morning to take part in opening discussions for the #Boston 400th anniversary...in case you are wondering, that's the 'junior' Boston over in a place called the USA.

Very excited to be involved in early discussions for the #Boston2030 commemoration - which will be big on both sides of 'the pond'.

A good time yesterday speaking to a packed house at #Willoughby about Dangerous Women of Lincolnshire. The home village of the famous Captain John Smith.

Charles II purposefully engineered the execution of Sir Henry Vane of Belleau #Lincolnshire. He was a former governor of #Massachusetts. Unlike others who died, he was not a regicide.

What happened to #Scrooby's stocks? Sometime in the late 1800s they were told to Americans and shipped across the Atlantic...but where did they go after that?

The new memorial at Sturton-le-Steeple has now been installed for the names of four VERY significant local people. We don't believe there is any other village that can boast four such sons/daughters.

Nice picture of Scrooby Manor stables in about 1897. Maybe the famous William Brewster kept his horse here...though no indication of the date of this building.
