The church of St Thomas Becket at Cliffe, Lewes. Legend has it that the knights who slew Becket fled from Canterbury along the #OldWay, and arrived at Lewes on their anti-pilgrimage.

Between Firle & Berwick is a church that few pilgrims visit: Alciston. It holds a deeper silence than its neighbours, which the vicar and churchwarden have recently embellished with a wonderful new ‘pilgrim bell’. Its song lasts for 2 full minutes! I couldn’t help but join in…
