Very happy & proud to be studying for my PhD with UHI. The support I'm receiving & the expertise within UHI that surrounds my research area is fantastic. As credible as that which I received at UCL and the Uni of Aberdeen.

Love the suspense of ordering archival material, every time - will it be a single document, a neatly tied bundle, a whole box of bundles, or a tome?!

Got to stop slipping from the 'd' key to the 'f' key when typing up notes. Revisiting a word doc I realise I've multiple references to 'fairies' & 'fairy' rather than 'dairies' & 'dairy'. i.e., '...livestock supplemented by fairy sales'. Certainly adds a new dimension though!

So happy to pass my theory test; particularly liked the hazard perception that included deadringers for the 'interactive' Highland Folk Museum cow below 😂 A lovely research-y afternoon treat spent in Badenoch inc. a visit to the fascinating Clan Macpherson Museum & 'Cluny' the wildcat!

Feel very lucky to have attended a brilliant & thought-provoking 'protest workshop' yesterday morning led by Carl Griffin, followed by the History Talks Live event below by David Harvey, all at UHI's Centre for History in the midst of the gorgeous Highlands! UHI Centre for History

This essay looks to the Highland’s past + its futures in relation to land, language + forests - a contribution to #AFragileCorrespondence. With thanks to Raghnaid Sandilands for edits + Alastair McIntosh for sending an early draft of his report on carbon capitalism🌲👉mairimcfadyen.scot/fragile-corres…

#twitterstorians can anyone help? Trying to work out the word in the photo within the context of: "If you can bring proof against any of your [?] killing deer on the Duke's property... you have only to hand their names..." Might be really simple & I'm just not seeing it...!

Guisachan House & Falls - heeded a suggestion to visit as an alt. to Plodda. Very interesting decaying victorian hydro-dam & hadn't realised removing a roof in the 1930s meant you avoided paying tax on a house you bought just so people wouldn't swim naked in the nearby lochan..
