Geometric morphometrics teams up with taxonomy: Pietro Viacava's 2nd PhD paper uses GMM to provide morphological support for a speciation hypothesis while also identifying the easiest differentiating measurements. Well done mate!

Something I’ve been saying/thinking re dingoes. We are treating dingo management like all populations across Australia are “the same” but we know there are regional differences (genetics and morphology). Some locally adapted ecotypes may be gone, others decreasing and some OK.

Pietro Viacava's #amsc2021 talk made me wish I could draw in 3D! Maybe for the next geo morpho talk I'll have to take my notes in Blender... fascinating stuff as always, really enjoying this arvo's sessions!

Our latest paper! Published in Integrative Organismal Biology Food texture throughout growth impacts adult biting mechanics. We interpret the findings within the context of captive-rearing rescued baby animals for release back into the wild. A thread academic.oup.com/iob/article/3/…

It's not just the Easter Bilby who is busy packing eggs! 🥚 We're constructing a new purpose-built facility to house our wildlife and insect collections. So we're packing our fragile heritage egg collection for the egg-citing move to its new home: spr.ly/6010OG4Mo

Did you know that my team CSIRO built a time machine? Well... we did! An epigenetic time machine. New bioRxiv describing century-old signatures of gene-regulation. I reckon the Epigenetic Hulk might be interested in this one? #MuseumGenomics. Link in thread:

Taking it back to where it all began in early 2022, with Pietro Viacava digitising a dugong skull! You can view this model in all its glory on our Sketchfab page skfb.ly/ozAuU

This is appropriately called a LEGACY for research and education. CABAH Don't miss out Ozboneviz's sketchfab fabulous 3D models and more on MorphoSource! I am glad I started this with Vera Weisbecker (she/her on Kaurna land). Now Erin Mein and Jacob van Zoelen have taken it to a whole new level!
