Had a brilliant time at Grimley for my first #westmidsalldayer. Been looking forward to it all year and it didn’t disappoint, even on a relatively quiet birding day. Personal species total of 50 and a patch total of 88. More importantly, a great event with some great people!

You wait all year for a Cattle Egret and then 12 come along at once! Or at least 12 I should say (and one or more in courtship colour) at Lower Test this evening. A first for me - what a bird! Great to see them appearing and then disappearing amidst the long grass #HantsBirds

Monkwood was brimming with new life this afternoon. A GSW calling from its nest and fledgling great tits, blue tits, coal tits, and long tailed tits along the coppices. Plus what I think is a fledgling Chiffchaff #WorcsBirds

I didn’t manage to find a Ring Ouzel in the Brecon Beacons but a different monochrome local did make an appearance. A total of five Pied Flycatchers foraging along a small river valley. I could watch them all day #PowysBirds

A fledgling Dipper gets fed by its parent on the Afon Mellte while Pied Flycatchers dart from tree to tree in the background. Also Grey Wagtails, fledgling Nuthatches, and my first Wood Warbler #PowysBirds

A male Redstart leaves the nest and immediately spots a fly in Wood Crates, New Forest. The pair each returned every 1-4 minutes with full beaks #HantsBirds

Nice to wrap up a year living down south with my first Honey Buzzard today. The woods were also brimming with Redstarts, Spotted Flycatchers, and fledgling Marsh Tits #HantsBirds

Grimley 10 pm+ Bittern flew from South end to land near the young Lapwings on East shore in the open then flew to frog pool where it fished actively with a Heron for a while ,before returning to the east shore.

Watched this Little Ringed Plover at Grimley CLP this evening for 80 mins as it foraged, snoozed, got woken up by a flock of starlings, and then went back to foraging. Other birds of note were Common Sandpiper, Common Snipe, Great White Egret, and male Sparrowhawk #WorcsBirds
