🚨 Besides the #MigrationPact , European Parliament also adopted its position on rules to protect victims. This improves crime reporting for migrant victims but fails to fully protect them from immigration enforcement.

This vote is even more important as the Pact ushers in more abuses.

Yesterday's vote on the #MigrationPact ushers in even more violence against people seeking safety and opportunity in Europe. But it won't silence the resistance of all those who oppose its cruelty and work for a welcoming Europe for all.

In Europe more than 100 people faced criminal charges last year for facilitating irregular migration, according to the Brussels-based NGO, PICUM.

The organization warned of a growing trend targeting humanitarian workers.

'Among those criminalised, 46 people had rescued or helped migrants in distress at sea, 19 had provided shelter, 18 had promoted inclusive policies at local level; 17 tried to stop a deportation, 8 gave migrants food, water, and clothes'.

Criminalisation of #migration has been used by European governments to intimidate humanitarians and make us think twice before supporting #refugees and report violations of rights.
