Now that’s some Botrytis gray mold on strawberry 🍓. Part of a project we are involved in to detect incidence of fungicide-resistant strains of the pathogen in grower fields in Alabama. #fungi #plantdisease #strawberry #gardening #Botrytis

Septoria brown spot ⁦Crop Protection Network⁩ on soya fields in AL. Often in fields that are in continuous soybeans. Symptoms: Brown lesions w/t yellow halo; black pepper spots appear within lesions w/t tendrils of spores oozing out if moist chambered for 24 hrs. Not a yield reducer

Powdery mildew rarely occurs on soybeans & does not appear to cause yield loss. Symptoms include a white talcum-powder coating often on the upper surface of infected leaves. Use varieties with low susceptibility to the disease; fungicides are not typically required for control

Knotty knotty nematodes Nibbling on poor soybean toes RKN's severe in sand Rotation may not go as planned If it’s dry, roots will cry As RKN makes them die Leaves yellow, plants don’t grow Are there galls, how can one know? Sample soil if crops are out Find a lab to make a count!

Hollow heart is a physiological disorder affecting brassicas, like #broccoli. Soil moisture, excessive nitrogen or potassium fertilization and cultivar are some of the factors influencing the severity of the problem. #MSUext

Plant Disease🔺6 of 7: First choose a plant that can’t be a host Fungi might think it tastes too gross Or get rid of the thing that wants to eat crops Rotate or till to bust pathogen chops Maybe do something like change up a spot So spores and their ilk can’t make a plant rot
