Black history month is a moment in which we intentionally direct our focus toward recognizing the extraordinary contributions and achievements of black individuals throughout our history. It’s a time to celebrate resilience and brilliance. Happy Black History Month.

It was a great honor to participate in today’s Black History Month Kick-Off Celebration with my fellow City of Phoenix employees. This celebration is a reminder of Phoenix’s commitment to inclusion and honoring black voices and stories, not just during February, but year round.

My team and I joined Phoenix’s Office of Homeless Solutions for a tour of the Safe Outdoor Space. So far they have served 75 individuals, including 19 that have exited to an indoor shelter.

I had the opportunity to tour the Dementia Care and Education Campus and learn about the many ways Hospice of the Valley helps people living with all stages and types of dementia.

We are grateful that Phoenix is an official Dementia Friendly City!

Century Library's 50th Anniversary Celebration. The event is on Saturday, Dec. 16, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. After opening remarks, the celebration will be an 'open house' with family-friendly activities and some library giveaways and related prizes.
