A better crop and edit of the Brainard, NE tornado. One of the most photogenic landscapes I've ever captured a tornado over.

To witness a solar eclipse anywhere is extraordinary; to catch totality directly over the mountain you call home is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Solar Eclipse over Katahdin -

One of the most amazing sights of the eclipse was the ghost-like light on the mountain as it received the first rays of sunlight on the other side of totality, while we were still in shadow. It was incredible.

This is a first for me. A rainbow in front of the Cathedral Ridge in the Drakensberg, South Africa, with individual diffraction of the rain droplets visible!

Hail is convective (formed by water getting thrown up into the cold aloft by updrafts)

Sleet is just rain falling into cold air before hitting the ground

After a snowy, sleety, icy mix of precipitation for many locations south of the mountains yesterday and overnight, it will likely be difficult to clean your car. Keep in mind though, it's the law to do so, and for good reason!

Ice carnage in Bath right now. Standing outside and you can hear limbs coming down every minute in all directions. Power out and some arcing transformers were seen earlier. Rough night. NWS Gray Charlie Lopresti

Freezing rain has been steadily accumulating here in Bath with temperatures 30 F and below since the change from snow at 3 PM. We might be up over .25 inch accretion. Lights are flickering.

Looks like PWM peaked about about 14.57' for the record. Official data still to come. Blew away old record of 14.17. Water damage will be extensive along the coastline.
