This claim is nonsensical, Daron Acemoglu. 1. Almost nobody paid the high statutory rates in the 1950s. Effective tax rates were much lower due to intentional loopholes. 2. There's no causal link between high rate/low inequality (or vice versa). See: academic.oup.com/ej/article-abs…
