Wonderful how many colours you can see in one walk. 11 miles today up and over the tops from Marsden to Slaithwaite. Gorgeous day. I kept thinking how much I'd miss days like this when I'm no longer around to enjoy them!

My three super commissioned art works from artist Lucia Smith are complete and in place. All I need now is to get some lighting in place to fully bring out the vibrant colours.

Yesterday, Garsdale to Malham via Weets Top. Today, Malham to Horton-in-Ribblesdale via Fountains Fell and (legs & stamina permitting) Darnbrook Fell. It's going to be tough, very hot day.

We had a great time chatting to Gayle Lofthouse BBC Leeds about the amazing detective work carried out by Philip W A Wilde on a 500 year old book thought to have once belonged to Kirkstall Abbey.

Probably the most important thing in a hikers wardrobe has to be the footwear. I haven't found the perfect pair yet. However, these have served me well over thousands of miles between them. Yorkshire Dales National Park

Nice to see the fields around Carlton, Guiseley, being left to grow wild this year. Loads of butterflies 🦋. Spot the Curlew.

Walked from Yeadon to Otley over the Chevin with the WildeChildBrewingCo. yesterday. (Took a wrong turn into someone's garden with a beautiful lily pond). We had no choice but to sample the three delightful beers of his that were on in The Bowling Green. The Yorkshire bitter was ace!

Today I completed the fourth of the four mountains that surround the Yorkshire Dales village of Hawes. In climbing order : Great Shunner Fell, Dodd Fell, Drumuldrace/Wether Fell, and the final one today, Lovely Seat. Just under 40 miles in total. Fabulous 👌

Final walk today to the summit of Addlebrough. A lovely hill that can be seen for miles around in Wensleydale. Sad to be coming home tomorrow but after more than 60 miles walked this week my legs beg to differ!

Terrific interest in the Leeds Libraries Heritage Open Day in the Local and Family History Library today. It's not often we are able to show off some our wonderful old maps of Yorkshire. We even had our extremely rare 1579 copy of Christopher Saxton's atlas on display.

Today, I learned, courtesy of Charles Kingsley, author of the Water Babies, that I am a sufferer of "Pteridomania". Pterido, Latin for fern. Mania speaks for itself. Kingsley was the first to use the word to describe the Victorian obsession with ferns.

It was lovely this afternoon to be able show off our Christopher Saxton Atlas and some of his other work to a small group of people today Leeds Libraries . I think I can say with confidence that the session went down really well.

On my recent trip to the Yorkshire Dales I called at a place I had previously walked to, via Penyghent, from Horton-in-Ribblesdale to Beckermonds, the meeting of the becks. Oughtershaw and Green Field Becks merge to form the great River Wharfe. Yorkshire Dales National Park
