Fighting climate change is fighting diseases. Climate change induced flooding increases vector & waterborne disease riks as flooded waters harbour a variety of germs. Regular use of the toilet to dispose of human waste reduces open waste & lowers the health effects of floods.

Today ,we were represented by our projects & parternehsip coordinator, Bena The Social Entrepreneur at the 6th climate & Health coordination meeting hosted by Amref Health Africa in Uganda . Amidst reduced funding ,resource optimisation through coordinated implementation eliminates duplication of work

Flooding is significantly driven by drainage blockage by waste . As stakeholders in mitigating the effects of climate change-induced flooding ,we continue to emphasise the practice of using waste bins/ containers to avoid random waste that affects water flow ,causing floods

Earlier today, our partnerships coordinator,Bena The Social Entrepreneur, handed over IEC materials - posters ,T-shirts to Marion Natukunda,on behalf of Ministry of Health- Uganda department of Health promotion. We are strengthening education on climate change & prevention of related health effects

Our efforts in fostering proper waste disposal in Bwaise Slum are yielding .There is a visible single disposal point in most areas,signalling a shift in behaviour and practices in waste management . We aim to see a reduction in flooding intensity and associated doeseae risks.

Among the tasks of our Health Education Volunteer (HEV) in our efforts to mitigate the effects of climate induced flooding in Kampala slums is ensuring clean water sources . We are happy to see one of the HEVs in Bwaise doing onspot checks to ensure safe & clean water Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA)

We believe that empowering marginalised communities to build their resilience against climate change fosters equity & drives sustainable development. Our focus on slums is deliberate as they face disproportionate effects of climate change. #ClimateAction #PurposeHealth

This comes after complaints of waste accumulation
