We know from our research that low-income consumers are disproportionately affected by higher car insurance premiums. Research conducted earlier this year with Personal Finance Research Centre showed that the car insurance poverty premium can be over £500 each year.

What did the public think of tax rises in the budget? Half (48%) in our Opinium poll of 6,000 thought the tax rises were “necessary”, 18% neutral, 24% thought them “unnecessary”, and 10% did not know.
