Have you ever wondered about the history (and future) of the College of American Pathologists Cancer Reporting templates...and how the electronic templates (eCC's) are blazing the trail toward interoperability in the anatomic pathology data ecosystem? ascopubs.org/doi/full/10.12…

Gorgeous eosinophilic inclusions in a clear cell renal cell carcinoma. Some authors hypothesize that these are peroxisomal inclusions caused by autophagy pathway defects. Interestingly, they stained strongly for AMACR...a protein normally present in peroxisomes. Happy Friday!

This patient underwent partial nephrectomy for a renal cortical tumor and presented in follow up with nephrotic syndrome. Does anyone have any “tips” for examining adjacent “normal” kidney in this setting? This subtle diagnosis is easily missed on a busy GU path service.

🍁🌲🚵🏼‍♂️🐾🏃🏽‍♀️🔬 I am thrilled with the 🔝batch of future #pathology stars scheduled for virtual interviews Dartmouth Health Pathology Residency this season. Not seen on Zoom: Dartmouth Health | Inactive is footsteps away from ~39 miles of wooded bike/hiking trails that transform yearly into an energizing autumnal haven.

Rushton hyaline material from the inflammatory wall of a periapical/radicular maxillary odontogenic cyst. This example is focally demonic. 👹

Preliminary data for this year’s residency application cycle are now available. These figures won’t surprise anyone familiar with the contemporary application process… but if you’ve been out of the game for a while, some of the numbers will be eye-popping. #ApplicationFever

Med student shadowing me this morning said I “drew open the curtains of pathology” for him. We toured the whole department and I showed all aspects of processing a lung tumor from grossing, diagnosis, reporting and molecular dx. Every MS should have at least this exposure.

The 2nd season of the NEJM-sponsored podcast Not Otherwise Specified offers important conversations for academic medicine faculty and trainees. Kudos to Lisa Rosenbaum for this work. Consider listening and continuing these conversations IRL. …-otherwise-specified-podcast.nejm.org

Academic Surgical Pathology Faculty poll (for subspecialty-based practices). How are your service days scheduled? (Service days = days you are receiving new cases to sign out with or without a resident). Feel free to comment on pro's/con's. Thank you!
