We finished our most recent read aloud-Once Upon a Tim by Stuart Gibbs which was a HUGE hit w/ lots of laughs! I used Canva to print a poster w/ interactive areas for shared thinking about setting, BME, character traits & we’ll add persuasive book reviews soon! Cannon Cubs
We took a nature hunt around Cannon to do some field research on common insects found outside for our Bug Hotel Design Challenge. These little scientists took detailed notes of their observations in their design notebooks! Cannon Cubs
We loved visiting the #EarthDay story walk, thank you Kristi Wagner for setting up this cool activity! We had to get a picture by our page, of course. 🌎♥️ Cannon Cubs
We’ve learned about interdependence & now we’re researching & gathering data about what we’ll need to design a bug hotel for our garden at Cannon! My team has worked hard to make our last challenge of the year meaningful & tightly tied to our TEKS! ♥️🐞🪲🐝♥️ Cannon Cubs
I used my scholars favorite and most frequent 😂 science question-How many species of (insert animal) are there?-to practice comparative language in math today. They were super invested! Got ‘em! 😊 Cannon Cubs
Our bug hotel is almost open for business! Students researched & thoughtfully designed rooms for their intended guests by choosing materials they depend on for shelter! Cannon Cubs
We’re finishing up our Number Sense to 120 unit in math & my cubs asked to practice our mathematical thinking with number talks! They ♥️ them! Cannon Cubs
We finished up our latest read aloud, Once Upon a Tim by Stuart Gibbs! 10/10 recommend. Students slowly added to our book thinking map during our iCAN time & it’s finally finished. They love going back to revisit their contributions & retell the story! Cannon Cubs
In case you wondered how many species of crocodiles there are or what a group of jellyfish are called… 😂😂 I present: Independent research study by Ms. Pettit’s Super Curious First Graders. Cannon Cubs
See you all tomorrow! Can’t wait to learn and share with everyone! #stem4innovation Spark! PK-12 Engineering Education Outreach Jennifer Pettit
