The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand peter prince University of Sydney My father, born in New Guinea in the 1920’s to Australian parents and growing up in Australia from age 8 eventually had to prove his citizenship at his marriage. He was not indigenous.

The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand peter prince University of Sydney Anyone with an Australian birth certificate should be Au citizens by default. Without a certificate they could be from PNG eg. unless witnesses were able to provide a statement as to their origins to authorities. This could have been easily done but appears to have been neglected
