37 CENTS to fill a 90 day supply of HCTZ 25mg. That comes with a $0.75 dispensing fee on the back end. Negative 38 cents on this med before the cost of the drug (its cheap sure). THIS is why pharmacies are going out of business not named CVS Health who owns a PBM...

"Actually, there is a fairly straightforward reason why Americans are paying more for drugs in general — and Ozempic in particular — compared to other countries. The problem is the Pharmacy Benefit Manager, commonly known as a PBM." #PBMs thehill.com/opinion/health…

beckershospitalreview.com/care-coordinat… The increase in asthma deaths and hospitilizations is the result of Flovent not being available for the children who need it. This is despicable and playing games to protect profits and harming children should lead to an orange jump suit!

Pharmacists agree there is a problem. Patients agree there is a problem. Yet PBMs continue to turn a blind eye, raking in profits while people struggle. We can't begin to address this problem until PBMs wake up and come to the table.

The top 3 PBMs - CVS, OptumRx, and Express Scripts - are making hundreds of billions of dollars by acting as monopolistic middlemen who jack up your drug costs & limit your access to more affordable meds. I asked their CEOs how much they were making in profit:

Insurance requires a DAW 9 for Farxiga since they don’t want to cover the must less expensive generic. Re-processed with DAW 9 and they still want to pay $310 UNDER COST Last month insurance paid $552, now paying $254. Guess I won’t be filling this one.

Drug on the left = $570 Drug on the right = $356 Which drug would you want to purchase knowing that the tablets are identical and are made in the same manufacturing plant? The cheaper one obviously, right? Then why do major PBMs exclude the cheaper one?

Per McKinsey & Company, profits at #hospital-owned specialty #pharmacies will grow more quickly than all other #pharmacy channels (incl #PBM owned SPs). Profits at retail #pharmacies will decline. My $0.02: Vertical integration + #340B = hospital EBITDA ==> drugch.nl/4h8b7BP

EVERYONE needs to understand what PBMs are doing to the people that support patients and communities all across America. An hour on hold multiple times this week to speak to someone at our local Walgreens. Independents do not have much time left unless something is done!!
