SB 272 is dangerous and WRONG for NH. This bill: ❌ Specifically targets LGBTQ+ teens ❌ Forces teachers to 'out' LGBTQ+ teens ❌ Targets teachers w/ potential lawsuits ❌ Erodes DOE's One Trusted Adult program ❌ Has virtually no exceptions for abuse/neglect #NHPolitics

Despite all the business tax breaks and giveaways to our wealthiest residents, CNBC has ranked NH 40th in its Top States for Business, dropping from our 35th place ranking last year. NH’s focus needs to be in lowering property taxes, and investments that make everyone thrive.

A few weeks ago I personally committed my endorsement to Mayor Joyce Craig for her candidacy as our next Governor. As a School Board member, Alderman, and now Mayor, she has worked with multiple constituencies and has direct experience in tackling our toughest challenges.

My fellow Milford Rep. Maria Perez has left the Democratic Party. While I’m disappointed, she has often put her personal issues ahead of the greater good and fails to see the big picture. Personally I like her very much; politically she has often infuriated me. I wish her well.

Too cute not to share. Last night a politically astute tricker-treater came to my door. He politely thanked me for his candy and said nothing more. A while later he returned, this time with his mother and said, “I’d like to introduce you to my mother. She voted for you.”🎃

All day, this has profoundly bothered me. As someone who needed free and reduced lunches for a time as a kid, I can certainly say that poverty, food insecurity & hunger absolutely exist, and it negatively impacts learners. What a detrimental thing to say! 💔 Here, FACTS:

Rep. Weyler is WRONG. As of Oct. 3rd, 51% of NH kids live in food insecure homes. Even before the pandemic, NH ranked 39th in SNAP participation and 47th for school breakfast. NH Republicans have consistently left federal resources on the table to feed hungry kids. #NHPolitics

Saved this Tweet from last summer; thought it was spot on. Pretty much sums up yesterday’s NH House session as ALL but 5 Republicans voted to ban books (HB1419) and ALL but 6 voted against free school meals. (HB1212).

Governor Sununu weighed in on my bill HB1162 which would repeal the “divisive concepts” law. I object to the implication that such instruction is happening. It’s an insult to our teachers! The law’s real objective is to silence teachers’ voices and give cover to hate groups.

IF I WAS ASKED … but I wasn’t, I would have said: You can always find examples of those in every profession who violate proper conduct but you don’t paint everyone with the same brush and impose draconian measures which make it challenging for them to do their jobs.

As the prime sponsor of legislation to overturn NH’s “divisive concepts” law, I am overjoyed with today’s court ruling which ensures that they will have access to honest and open discussion about history and for their teachers to be free from retribution for doing their jobs.

Have you seen the Kelly Ayotte ad that say Dems want to raise taxes and “coddle crime?” She says, “That’s nuts” Know what’s nuts? Thinking that I or other Dems want our taxes to go up and have criminals roaming our neighborhoods. Same old cliches to mislead the voters.

What unites Democrats is our belief in the need to uplift one another, understanding that the world is a much better place when we all succeed, free to be ourselves, supporting one another within the uniqueness of our individuality.

Why would any state Rep compromise their principles to simply keep their position, committee, parking spot, or avoid a primary? It’s certainly not for the $100 a year salary. Personal integrity above all else.
