Congrats to CCC member Alex Chu on winning the North American Youth U12 Championship! As the gold medalist, he will be eligible for the FM title once his FIDE rating reaches 2100, and he will be eligible to represent Team USA at the Pan-American Youth Chess Festival! Go Alex! 🎉

Documenting this achievement with another case; not every day does the International Chess Federation solve the mystery of time travel! Now, if they'd be so kind as to help me get to 1858, so I can experience Paul Morphy's genius firsthand :)

Today FIDE made a rule change. Effective October 1 players past a certain elo cannot earn rating by defeating players much weaker than them. The rule is sort of "Anti-Hikaru", but not quite, as he's trying to play the 40 games required for Candidates more than he cares about

Emilchess I do feel like you often get a lot of unfair criticism, but this is such a tasteless and disrespectful post. Do you think his friends aren't asking themselves what else they could have done? The feeling of guilt is probably eating them alive. Who are you to judge them?

Emilchess You did the bare minimum expected of a rational human by saying Kramnik’s reaction to Danya’s passing was appalling and shameless. Instead of second-guessing what other chess players may or may not have done, why don’t you focus on what you, as the CEO of FIDE, could have done

Mike Klein (@chessmike) 's Twitter Profile Photo

What is wrong with you Emil? When you have a friend that is struggling you reach to that friend in private. You would never talk about someone’s mental health publicly if you wanted to help. You have no way of knowing how his friends reached out to him. Your tweet is gross.

A few words or sentences cannot express what I feel at this moment. Let Grant’s tribute serve us well for the time being. I’d like to drop a few additional photos (many more to be shared another time) of our Charlotte Chess Family.

Throwback to the first time I ever visited CCC… I’ve been lucky to spend these past two years around perhaps the brightest star in the chess universe

Yesterday, I had the honor of delivering this eulogy at Daniel’s funeral. With the family’s permission, I’m sharing it here so that those who couldn’t attend can read and remember him. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all members of the chess community who came together
