Warning issues for the risk of heavy thundery showers tomorrow for the south of the region.

UK #thunderstorms Thursday 31/07 - Favourable setup exists for thundery activity across CS/SE England tomorrow. We will have an upper level shortwave translating ESE across southern England. #ukweather #severeweather

A thundery day lies ahead ⚡️ As showers and cloud clears SEwards, a convergence trough will promote storms to develop in the MDT zone. Storm activity should peak mid-afternoon with another line of showers, bringing high rainfall totals, up to ~70mm in places.

Some cells now starting to develop into our region as expected. Nothing too active atm but we’ll see how things progress

Story of the day being I get to a cell, it suddenly decides to stop producing lightning. Nice separation on this cell however

The only two bits of visible lightning I captured today but I think the first bolt makes up for that

One of the nicest separations I’ve seen so far tbh. May have had a funnel cloud off it as well, will be interesting to see once I get it off the camera later

Here's how yesterday's outlook performed. Yet another active day, especially for southern Hampshire and the IoW, with training storms. Warnford received 53mm of rain, and Cowes 40mm in an hour! Cloud tops hit an impressive -50C, with small hail also reported near Portsmouth.

Perhaps maybe clutching at straws here, also was at work so very annoying, but appears this cell was acting a bit cheeky and decided to show up a cheeky inflow notch on radar. I captured this potential inflow cloud, before it tipped it down. If only I could have done a Timelapse

The Bluebell Railway this weekend celebrated its 65th anniversary and as part of the finale, they held a cavalcade with Seven of the railways operational fleet. As it passed they are erupted into noise with lots of whistling so recommend the volume up for this one!

Keeping an eye on these thunderstorms moving in off the Channel and headed NE - not entirely convinced they'll survive further inland, but perhaps a bit of added spice to this pretty dull afternoon here.
