I'm increasingly feeling like GPT-4 (& beyond) will be healthcare's Hemingway moment when it comes to #AI. When asked how someone becomes bankrupt, EH famously said, "Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly." GPT has tons of implementation challenges, but use cases now seem very real.

🎉 Introducing GPT-4o mini, OpenAI's new flagship model now available on Azure AI. GPT-4o mini can reason across vision and text at faster speeds and lower costs. Learn more here: msft.it/6016lR5AI

Congratulations for this technical achievement, Paige. I think it will prove to be seminal and a major step towards important clinical capabilities in medical imaging. We are so very pleased and proud Microsoft Research to work with you on this.

I'm excited to share the results of our first work with Paige, published today in Nature Medicine. Virchow is a 632M parameter foundation model for histopathology, trained on 1.5M whole slide images, the largest dataset for pathology foundation model development to date.

People are building so many cool things with Phi-3, now with fine-tuning and very nice improvements in instruction following and overall quality. Also expecting big upticks in GPT-4o-mini. Llama-3.1-405B, and Mistral Large2. azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/ann…

Some home maintenance tasks, such as putting on a new roof, or re-doing the flooring, or replacing kitchen cabinets, etc, are pretty consequential and somewhat risky, but none more so than re-doing the mesh wifi system for the house and yard..

We’re excited to share our latest work with Paige on (vision) foundation models of pathology. In this study, we introduce Virchow2 and Virchow2G, significantly increasing the scale of our previous work both in terms of data and parameters, with Virchow 2G reaching 1.85B

I've seen this coming for a while now, but I'm still so impressed by Epic's use of genAI to ease cognitive burdens for doctors and nurses, and improve quality and safety. It so inspires our teams at Microsoft to work hard to help them. fiercehealthcare.com/ai-and-machine…

This is the coolest "application" of LLMs I have seen in a while: instead of using an LLM to solve a problem set, flip the table and ask the student to TEACH the LLM how to solve the problem set. Really lovely. Thx to Jordan Hoffmann for sharing this :-). youtube.com/watch?v=om7VpI…

🥳Happy to share our work on extracting extremely accurate electron densities (and many related properties) from wavefunctions. Feel honored to work with all these talented colleagues in Microsoft Research AI for Science Lab

Adam Foster (@adamefoster) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Curious what I've been working on since joining AI for science? With an incredible, multidisciplinary team we've studied the 'wave function -> election density' marginalisation using score matching & NCE. This has some big gains over older Gaussian-based methods.

Check out this cool work by my colleagues at Microsoft Research AI4Science, using denoising score matching to distill one-electron densities from wavefunctions!

Season opener for the Seahawks, and the new Sound Transit - 🚆 🚈 🚍 light rail from Lynnwood is absolutely packed with fans going to the game. So much better than fighting I-5 traffic and stadium parking!

I'm honored to be named here. In truth, as in all such things, any positive impact I've made is the result of the teamwork of a lot of great people I have the good fortune to work with. Thank you!
