Excited to share my first undergrad-mentee-led manuscript! Here we introduce gatoRs, an R package designed to streamline the downloading and processing of biodiversity data. doi.org/10.1002/aps3.1… (1/n)

🚨 New pub! How else are PLANTS special? Read my take on how botanical research can and has moved beyond investigating patterns in light of landscape change & to inform our understanding of past geologic and climatic processes 🧵

Our work is in press academic.oup.com/aob/advance-ar… in this paper, we showed that flowering onset in #paleflax, the wild crop relative of flax, correlates with latitude (later onset towards the north), but the local climate of populations predicts better the population variation

Last year at SMBE I watched several talks on a live video feed from an overflow room because there wasn’t enough space in the main room 🫠 Why not have more concurrent sessions? The balance b/w talks and posters seems off imo.

in a new preprint w/ daniel cadena, we ask whether available reference genomes accurately reflect the latitudinal gradient of biodiversity. we find they do not: doi.org/10.1101/2024.0…

Uuuh, the first paper from the Todesco lab! A phased, chromosome-level assembly for nettle - it not only stings, but it is also full of chromosomal rearrangements!🥬🧬 Great work from Kaede Hirabayashi, in collaboration with the Deyholos and Cronk labs biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
