Belfast - our parks are NOT delivering for biodiversity. So we've started the "Wilder Parks" campaign to ask @Belfastcc to create more space for nature in our parks. We dived into our park management plans and uncovered that they are not performing for #wildlife, thread: 🧵⬇️

Continuing on with our #wilderparks campaign how could parks look with more thought for #biodiversity? 1) Wildflowers for adult pollenators and ecosystem services like flood mitigation; 2) Native shrubs providing heterogeneity for fruit eating birds and specialist insects;

Likewise habitat heterogeneity (lawn SOO yawn) caters for more diversity (and climate resilience!) 1) Native plants oxygenate pond and provide invert food source; 2) Rockerys provide niches for specialists and hibernacula; 3)Nectar richness adjacent ponds provides foraging...
