Districts are being punished for doing right by kids: In Austin ISD, middle schools are in trouble because a high % of 7th graders take Accelerated Math—those kids don’t take 7th grade STAAR (they take 8th grade STAAR). So the best math performers are absent from 7th grade data.

Native Texan Gina Hinojosa Every time the system gets to a point where kids are successful, the state changes the rules. They cant justify killing public education if it’s successful. So they change the test and change the game to ensure kids are not successful.
