Imma speak very honestly on battle rap cause it’s for the benefit of the culture. Don’t take offense.

Battle rap has lost the identity that built its core. 2008-2016 3 Leagues URL - Street Rap KOTD - Canadian / Diverse / Comedy Don’t Flop - British / Diverse / Comedy It made the scene easy to follow. Each identity was IMPORTANT.

Now every main event… can be done on any league and there isn’t any identity left. Leagues all played a vital role for a long time, then… the plot was just lost. Development leagues started booking bigger match ups & the chain of command, was eventually lost.

As a new fan…. you don’t understand that these big names battling smaller names on smaller leagues is fast tracking an artist at the expense of the league. You would think this is just due process, not someone getting the opportunity of a lifetime. The plot is lost as a fan.

For the record; this wasn’t an attack on battle rap. There are a lot of amazing things still happening and a lot of amazing things that still will happen. This was simply about what made battle rap GROW and a convo about why it’s not growing at the same pace it once was.
