Our first satellite class officially opened this week. Maple class is based at Crossgates Primary School near Llandrindod, and means that pupils with ALN can go to school closer to home, instead of having to travel all the way to Brecon each day.

Our Executive Head, Karen Gittins is retiring at the end of this term to enjoy as well-earned rest (we can't see that happening!). Angharad Bryn-Jones will be our new Headteacher from September. As you can see, we shared the news in our local Papur Bro.

As well as Karen retiring, Dawn, Emma H, Luci, Linda and Chrissie are also moving on to new adventures. Thank you all for being brilliant and lovely. And if you ever need a map of Brecon, pop in and see Emma in VisitBrecon 😉.

We were very lucky to have a visit from the lovely C.C. Brampton who came to share his love of stories with the pupils and read from his book Charlie Robonik. The children were hooked! There's a competition on his website too: ccbrampton.co.uk

Hawthorn and Beech classes have been getting into the Halloween spirit making witch faces and Halloween biscuits. They look amazing 🙂

It was lovely to have Kath Davies readysteadymusic back at Penmaes to take a staff drumming workshop yesterday🙂. Kath left us with lots of enthusiasm and resources, which we've already started to use in class.

This week pupils in Willow class went to the Foundry in town. We had drinks, cakes and comics, then Dean showed us around the music venue and recording studio. We loved it and can't wait to go back!

I had a brilliant day with this lovely lady and the amazing staff and pupils Ysgol Penmaes this week, who are all absolute stars in my eyes! Thanks for reading, singing and learning about dealing with 'big feelings' with me - I think we have some budding guitarists on our hands!

Last week Hazel, Rowan and Beech classes performed a song they had written for a story about the three rivers and the green man, with Sinfonia Cymru in Theatr Brycheiniog. Hawthorn and Birch classes had made some of the set, and we all went along to watch. We had a great time!
