Pei-Chen Kuo really smashing it on our palaeojournal club talking everything avian quadrates, excellent jokes too!

Congrats to Pei-Chen Kuo on the publication of his second thesis chapter! This is a massive investigation of morphological evolution in the avian quadrate across the diversity of living birds. Check it out in Proceedings B, open access! royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs…

Evolutionary drivers of morphological disparity in the avian quadrate: royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs… Congrats to Pei-Chen Kuo and Guillermo Navalón! #birds #dinosaurs

Very happy to have contributed to Pei-Chen Kuo's PhD work! Turns out shape of the avian quadrate seems to be not very related with ecology at broad phylo. scales. Integration with other bones in the skull suggests quadrate evolved as part of a functionally integrated system!

My second PhD chapter with Field Palaeobiology Research Group and Guillermo Navalón is out now! Read all about the nearly complete endocast of Lithornis vulturinus, and what it can tell us about the neuroanatomy of early crown birds 🐦 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.10…

The American version of our book "Birds of the Mesozoic" with Princeton Nature is finally out! So happy our book will be more easily available for US & Canadian-based ornithology and paleontology enthusiasts! Lynx Nature Books

Super excited to see this first chapter of my PhD published ! Huge thank you to my supervisor Field Palaeobiology Research Group and co-authors, and to Emma R Schachner PhD for inviting us to contribute to this theme issue on the avian respiratory system!

It's finally out! Together with Allison Yi Hsiang and Field Palaeobiology Research Group, we explored relative homoplasy in a range of bird matrices and introduce a new parsimony measure, the relative homoplasy index (RHI) (1/n) academic.oup.com/zoolinnean/art…
