People Who Menstruate I was turned away by local gynae services because I’m a wheelchair user & trans. Referrals for treatment were returned or refused. Found a surgeon in another borough, but gynae dept changed my gender on all med records. 27 yrs to get a hysterectomy because I’m #Disabled & #Trans

A few years before I started T I went to the doctor cos I'd skipped a few periods and she told me it was all fine without doing any tests. It was only when I had my hormone levels checked when I was starting T they found out I had the oestrogen levels of a post menopausal woman

Just had to ring the hospital & request a vaginal scan, rather than a pelvic one, because my GP uses an outdated system where you can't book men for vaginal scans, or women for prostate scans etc! Love having to out myself continually to strangers over the phone to get treatment!

Imagine if I was a trans man who was super dysphoric about this stuff and just decided to never get checked... The system is failing us in so many ways - not just in hormones or surgery, but the basics of preventative general healthcare.

Apparently trans men and non binary/intersex people wanting healthcare for the bodies we have without being harassed or assaulted is too much to ask for

I include intersex people in my advocacy because I was asked by intersex people to include them, as they often face similar hurdles to obtaining gynaecological healthcare as trans men and non binary people do.
