I support building homes on the Aylesham site- but they must include the right amount of social and affordable housing. With 18,000 on Southwark’s housing waiting list and thousands of kids in temporary accommodation, Berkeley’s 12% offer simply isn’t good enough.

Sam Bowman Miatta Fahnbulleh The developer knows the rules: it was always unlikely to get permission if they did not provide the levels of affordable housing set out in planning policy (35%). There is little point building housing that Southwark's residents can't afford to live in.

Sam Bowman your analysis is simplistic. #Peckham has a high degree of housing need, not met by this development. But other factors too: - social harm to #Peckham community by displacement - economic harm to small businesses - heritage harm (on edge of a conservation area) etc.

To add to your "NIMBY full house"..... The developer, in a public meeting, said that the scheme couid be marketed as "second homes". Yep, that will help solve the housing crisis - lots of second homes, empty investment flats, and AirBnBs....
