Important to clarify the facts on what the coal policy change actually did. Unfortunately, we see this article repeat the claim that the change opened up lands referred to as "category 2" to surface mining where it was not previously permitted. This is not the case. 1/x #ableg

Hopefully this provides some clarity and evidence on the ongoing discussion around potential coal development in Alberta. There is certainly a lot of confusion out there. I also hope to see the The Globe and Mail reflect this clarification in their article. 9/9 #ableg
