Here comes the rain, spiked with a little lightning and thunder at times. A few storms closer to I-90 could be strong to severe later today. Sustained winds of 20-30 with gusts over 45 mph. Another free lawn-watering 👍🏼

85F yesterday at MSP; cooler today (low to mid 70s) but still very nice. Tuesday's storm may bring close to 1' rain and a few stronger T-storms into far southern MN. Cooler by late week but 60s return last week of April. Drought has vanished in the metro.

We can handle this...

I might hold off on sprinklers until after April 23 or so. Models show a few nights below 32F next weekend, but mostly 60s the last week of April.

A perfect weather weekend in mid-April? ECMWF temperatures valid late afternoon Sunday.

My new computer wallpaper 😛

I picked up a decent Midland NOAA Weather Radio at Amazon for $34. Battery backup in case power is out. You don’t need it until you really need it. Make sure whatever you get has Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) which allows you to plug in only your county and the alerts you…

If the app includes an audible alert for warnings, maybe. I try to keep my phone out of the bedroom with all the notifications I get. I don't want it beeping at me all night 😆

Every home, apartment, school and office should have a NOAA Weather Radio that blasts out an alarm if a tornado is approaching your county It WILL wake you up at 3am - trust me. They start at $30 or so; a cheap form of life insurance:

Here's what the total solar eclipse looks like right now from a NOAA weather satellite in geosynchronous orbit 22,236 miles above the equator. Freaky cool.

I think it is fascinating that the HRRR includes code to account for the eclipse. This is instantaneous surface shortwave down every 15 minutes with anything less than 1 W m-2 plotted in white. Note some white specs underneath the thicker clouds outside of the totality path.
